With Joan Wetmore

Enrollment limited to 20; sign up early!

You’ve decided to clear out your closets, attic, or basement. Whether you are preparing for a move or just freeing space for new things, this program will help you identify what you have and explore the options for turning your discards into cash.

You’ll learn where to find out more about your possessions, so you will know whether that old desk or print is a rare antique to be cherished or just old. We’ll cover values and learn how to navigate the internet to get a rough idea of prices. We will also talk about market shifts and look at lists of what is and isn’t selling at the top consignment shops in Philadelphia and DC.

We’ll discuss various options for disposing of your things and summarize the benefits of using each – from museum donations to estate sales, or consignment shops to auctions.

About the Instructor: A real estate agent by day, antiques are Joan Wetmore’s avocation – she’s been collecting since she was ten. An active volunteer, she and a friend screened and priced incoming consignments at the Talbot County Historical Society for six months after it moved to its present location.

Members: $10 | Non-Members: $15
