A Few Details about CBMM’s Festivals

TICKETS: CBMM’s numerous exhibitions are open during all Museum festivals for guests to enjoy in addition to the day’s programs and events. Tickets are available at the door, the day of the event.

DOGS: During CBMM festivals and special events and for safety reasons, dogs are not permitted on Museum grounds, with the exception of certified service dogs. Leashed dogs are permitted on Museum grounds during regular business hours.

ALCOHOL: Carry-on alcohol on our campus and docks is strictly prohibited at all events where alcohol is available for purchase.

MONEY: Credit cards will be accepted at the door for admission, with festival-goers encouraged to bring cash for use inside the gates. Please note, the nearest ATM is about a five minute walk from the Museum.

PHOTO/VIDEO: Visitors are encouraged to take photos and video of their visit to the CBMM Campus. Please note: The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum frequently takes photographs of festivals and attendees that are used to promote the museum in a number of formats. 

DRONES:  Per the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), current regulations mean that drones are not able to fly from or over CBMM property at any time. Nor within 500ft from any water craft.

Wooden classics, vintage race boats, and other antique and Chesapeake Bay-related boats come to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum for the 29th annual Antique & Classic Boat Festival and The Arts at Navy Point in St. Michaels, MD. Hosted by the Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the Antique & Classic Boat Society (ACBS), this Father’s Day weekend event brings an era of by-gone days.

In celebration of Independence Day, CBMM welcomes The Shades of Blue Orchestra for a live performance at its Big Band Night. Two vocalists will join the 18-piece Shades of Blue Orchestra as they perform from the historic Tolchester Beach Bandstand.

The 7th Annual Watermen’s Appreciation Day celebrates Chesapeake watermen and their heritage. This year’s festival features a reduced price, which includes a “watermen’s rodeo” boat docking contest, live music, and celebrity appearances. Steamed crabs, beer, and other foods and beverages will be available for purchase.

Buyboat Reunion

12th Chesapeake Bay Buyboat Reunion

August 11 to August 14

During Museum Hours, 10am-5pm
Free with paid general admission
*Free with purchase of tickets to Watermen’s Day on August 14

Buyboats scheduled to be at CBMM include F.D Crockett, Nellie Crockett, Thomas J., Prop Wash, East Hampton, 55th Virginia, Iva W., Old Point, and Winnie Estelle. The Chesapeake Bay Buyboat Association is comprised of owners and people who share the love of these big boats. The owners maintain and operate the remaining buyboats at their own expense. The owners bring their boats to ports around the Bay each summer so that the public can stand on the decks, touch them and understand their importance in history.

St. Michaels Concours d’Elegance

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the St. Michaels Concours d’ Elegance and relocation back to St. Michaels. This year’s Concours will take place at the Fog Cove Landing waterfront portion of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum campus adjacent to the Inn at Perry Cabin. New Entrants Lounge will be open throughout the day for Automobile Entrants andVIP ticket holders. Mark your calendar for a day of casual elegance, Senior Award winning Automobiles, food, refreshment, and celebration.

Tickets will go on sale June 1, 2016 at www.smcde.org. All proceeds benefit the new Classic Motor Museum of St. Michaels.

Hundreds of amateur and professional boat builders, model boat builders and enthusiasts come from all over the region to display their skiffs, kayaks, canoes and maritime models. Check out the model pond and boats on land or watch many of these one-of-a-kind vessels race along the Miles River along CBMM’s 18-acre waterfront campus.

OysterFest is a celebration of the Chesapeake’s oyster. The event features live music on two stages, boat rides, retriever demonstrations, oysters and other local fare, an oyster stew competition and cooking demonstrations, along with children’s activities, oyster demonstrations, harvesting displays and Chesapeake-related documentary screenings.
