Party on the Point: Celebrating 50 years on the Bay

The Museum will celebrate its milestone anniversary with Party on the Point: Celebrating 50 Years on the Bay. The festival features the new exhibition opening, plus boat rides, live music, regional foods, a children’s art competition, family activities, and the launch of a #Snapshots2Selfies and time capsule community project that will both wrap up in May, 2016.

Father’s Day Weekend – June 19, 20 & 21, 2015

Wooden classics, vintage race boats, and other antique and Chesapeake Bay-related boats come to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum for the 28th annual Antique & Classic Boat Festival in St. Michaels, MD. Hosted by the Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the Antique & Classic Boat Society (ACBS), this Father’s Day weekend event brings an era of by-gone days.

In celebration of Independence Day, CBMM welcomes The Shades of Blue Orchestra for a live performance at its Big Band Night. Two vocalists will join the 18-piece Shades of Blue Orchestra as they perform from the historic Tolchester Beach Bandstand.

The 6th Annual Watermen’s Appreciation Day celebrates Chesapeake watermen and their heritage. This year’s festival features a reduced price, which includes a “watermen’s rodeo” boat docking contest, live music, and celebrity appearances. Steamed crabs, beer, and other foods and beverages will be available for purchase.

The live auction begins at 1 p.m. along the museum’s waterfront campus, where more than 90 boats—ranging in size and performance from sailing dinghies to cabin cruisers, and everything in between—will be auctioned off to the highest bidders.

Be a part of the Museum’s fall gala fundraiser which includes cocktails, dinner, and dancing on Navy Point. Funds raised support the Museum’s mission to inspire an understanding of and appreciation for the rich maritime heritage of the Chesapeake Bay and its tidal reaches, together with the artifacts, cultures, and connections between this place and its people.

Hundreds of amateur and professional boat builders, model boat builders and enthusiasts come from all over the region to display their skiffs, kayaks, canoes and maritime models. Check out the model pond and boats on land or watch many of these one-of-a-kind vessels race along the Miles River along CBMM’s 18-acre waterfront campus.

OysterFest is a celebration of the Chesapeake’s oyster. The event features live music on two stages, boat rides, retriever demonstrations, oysters and other local fare, an oyster stew competition and cooking demonstrations, along with children’s activities, oyster demonstrations, harvesting displays and Chesapeake-related documentary screenings.
