Model Guild & Model Sailing Club
The Museum's volunteer Model Guild supports the curatorial needs of the Museum with exhibit models and building kits for the Museum Store. In addition, the Guild offers classes for building scratch models, and the Maritime Model Boat Expo featuring "live" steamboat models, skipjacks with working sails, speedboats, tugs, and other radio-controlled miniatures.

Maritime Model Expo
Held in conjunction by the Museum’s Model Guild and the North American Steamboat Modelers Association, this expo includes radio-controlled models powered by steam, battery, and wind. Static displays of highly-detailed and realistic models by the Washington Ship Model Society and others will be featured, as well as activities for children.
The Model Sailing Club builds and races a fleet of radio controlled skipjacks on summer weekends in Fogg's Cove. During the winter months, models are built. The 48-inch skipjack models are built from scratch from plans sold by the club. The public is invited to join. To become a member of the Model Sailing Club, you must be a member of the Museum, and pay dues to the Sailing Club of $10 per year. Two business and social meetings, usually in January and April are held each year. A schedule of monthly racing from May to October is posted each year and are held on the Museum's grounds at Fogg's Cove on Sundays at 11am.
