Maritime Model Guild & Sailing Club
The Museum’s volunteer Maritime Model Guild supports the curatorial needs of the Museum with exhibit models and building kits for the Museum Store. In addition, the Guild offers classes for building scratch models, and the annual Maritime Model Expo featuring “live” steamboat models, skipjacks with working sails, speedboats, tugs, and other radio-controlled miniatures.
The group also hosts children’s model-making activities at CBMM’s signature events, and other outreach and educational programs throughout the year.

The Model Sailing Club builds and races a fleet of radio controlled skipjacks on summer weekends in Fogg’s Cove. During the winter months, models are built. The 48-inch skipjack models are built from scratch from plans sold by the club. The public is invited to join. To become a member of the Model Sailing Club, you must be a member of the Museum, and pay dues to the Sailing Club of $10 per year. Two business and social meetings, usually in January and April are held each year. A schedule of monthly racing from May to October is posted each year and are held on the Museum’s grounds at Fogg’s Cove on Sundays at 11am.
