Meet: Jay Hudson, Friends Board
(ST. MICHAELS, MD — September 7, 2016) Jay Hudson has a strong connection to the Chesapeake Bay, having grown up in Annapolis and spending his summers sailing, playing, and cleaning up the Bay he’s always called home. Five years ago, Jay and his wife Heather moved back to his home state of Maryland from Colorado, for Jay to work at Eastern Shore Brewing Company in St. Michaels, MD, where he now serves as General Manager.
When he was 16, Jay first visited CBMM with his father to celebrate Father’s Day at the Antique & Classic Boat Festival. These days, Jay brings his own children to the Boat Festival every year, carrying on his Father’s Day tradition.
Jay joined the Friends Board prior to its first meeting in April, 2015. CBMM’s Friends Board is comprised of individuals who have their local and regional communities at heart, and helps guide CBMM in its endeavors to strengthen partnerships and develop new ones, while helping CBMM be a real resource to diverse audiences. Jay feels that CBMM is important because it gives a face to the community of watermen who worked and continue to work on the Bay building a life and supporting their families while feeding many.
To the Friends Board, Jay brings out-of-the-box ideas for programs and a desire to strengthen CBMM’s relevancy and accessibility to younger generations. He acknowledges that museums are sometimes considered boring and static by Millennials. Jay looks forward to watching CBMM’s fresh and innovative programming develop and counter this stereotype.
When asked what it would be if he could have one job at CBMM, “It would be working in the boatyard learning and teaching historic techniques of boat building!”
We thank Jay for his time and dedication to CBMM!
