Meet: Lin Moeller, Friends Board
Lin Moeller became acquainted with CBMM through her career as a middle school environmental studies teacher in Annapolis, MD. Lin brought her students to CBMM to participate in education programs about oystering on the Chesapeake. Seven years ago, Lin decided to retire and move to St. Michaels where her husband, Paul, had started a new job. She’s been helping to further CBMM’s mission through volunteering ever since. As a docent volunteer, Lin shares her environmental studies knowledge with school groups and on ecology cruises aboard the historic 1920 buyboat, Winnie Estelle.
Lin expanded her volunteer service to CBMM when she was appointed to the Friends Board in 2016. Founded in 2015, CBMM’s Friends Board is comprised of individuals who have their local and regional communities at heart, and helps guide CBMM in its endeavors to strengthen partnerships and develop new ones, for CBMM to be a real resource to diverse audiences.
Lin believes CBMM does a fantastic job of bringing Chesapeake Bay heritage to life and giving the St. Michaels and entire Chesapeake Bay community a sense of pride in its history. She says she is humbled to be a member of the Friends Board and looks forward to building relationships with other board members. In addition to her extensive teaching background, Lin contributes to the Board the perspective of a longtime volunteer to CBMM.
Lin volunteers her time at other nonprofit community clubs and organizations, including the Talbot County Garden Club. When asked about her favorite aspect of the Chesapeake Bay, Lin replied that she loves all the organisms—large and small—which are drawn to the region because of the Bay’s presence.
We thank Lin for her time and dedication to CBMM!
