Meet: Pat Jones, Friends Board
(St. Michaels, Md. – November 16, 2017) Pat Jones’s connections to the Chesapeake Bay run deep, having grown up on the Eastern Shore, and then with her husband—a third generation waterman—raising a family in Bozman, Md. Pat first became connected to CBMM many years ago as a supporter of the Annual Fund, and then joined as a member after recently retiring from Talbot Bank (now Shore United Bank), where she worked for 25 years. Pat has been a tremendous friend to CBMM ever since, volunteering for Watermen’s Appreciation Day, and serving on our Friends Board since 2016.
CBMM’s Friends Board is comprised of individuals who have their local and regional communities at heart, and helps guide CBMM in its endeavors to strengthen partnerships and develop new ones, for CBMM to be a real resource to diverse audiences.
Pat would like to see the community—especially locals who grew up here—become more involved at CBMM, with her favorite parts of CBMM being Waterman’s Wharf, and the Waterfowling exhibitions.
“Watermen are becoming a dying breed, with regulations making it harder and harder to earn a living working the water.” says Pat. “The real answers are with the men and women who work the water every day, and in these exhibitions, CBMM shares their stories and perspectives well.”
Pat is deeply invested in the community, with her volunteer experience including serving as the current treasurer of the Talbot Watermen Association, and secretary at St. Luke’s Nursery School in St. Michaels, Md. She also volunteers with the Classic Motor Museum’s St. Michaels Concours d’Elegance, and Christmas in St. Michaels, helping with their annual house tours.
While serving on the Friends Board, Pat strives to support CBMM by giving feedback from her perspective as a long time community member.
We thank Pat for her time and dedication to CBMM!
