Meet: Trish Payne, CBMM Friends Board
(ST. MICHAELS, MD — October 10, 2016) Trish Payne first became connected to CBMM through her role as Executive Director for the St. Michaels Community Center. As part of its mission, the Community Center connects and partners with other nonprofits in St. Michaels—like CBMM—to organize events and programs that benefit the community as a whole.
Trish has especially enjoyed seeing partnerships between CBMM and the community grow, which have most recently been strengthened through a focus on social responsibility—a key initiative of CBMM President Kristen Greenaway.
As a member of the Friends Board, Trish is honored to be a part of CBMM’s outreach and partnership with the greater community. CBMM’s Friends Board is comprised of individuals who have their local and regional communities at heart, and helps guide CBMM in its endeavors to strengthen partnerships and develop new ones, while helping CBMM be a real resource to diverse audiences. Trish brings to the Friends Board support in the way of resources, experience, and advice, especially in light of the needs of local children.
In relaying one of her favorite memories at CBMM, Trish remembers when a dear friend started regularly bringing local children to fish along the docks at CBMM’s Waterman’s Wharf. The “fishing club” became a staple for many young people in the community who had gained the opportunity to know the Bay from the hands-on perspective. (It still continues on Friday afternoons!) Trish loves the Chesapeake Bay because it gives people an abundance of life in the form of nature, food, and experiences.
We thank Trish for her time and dedication to CBMM!
