Cannon Raffle

CONGRATULATIONS to Clark Johnson, of Worton, MD!

The winning ticket was drawn on Monday, September 10 by Langley Shook, with the help of volunteer
Kathy Gambrill. Clark and wife Karen are members and steadfast supporters of the Museum.

When notified, Clark responded "Truly I have only once in my life won a lottery pick. It was in 1966 when the local draft board picked me as a lucky winner for a position in the US Army. I was in the artillery units, so I know what a cannon is all about!"

Thank you to all who bought tickets and supported the Museum!

Enter to win this hand-crafted yachting classic!

Here’s a chance to fulfill that childhood fantasy AND help a good cause.  As part of this year’s Boating Party, CBMM is raffling off this spectacular reproduction of a Herreshoff Saluting Cannon!  Cast in solid brass by the good folks at RBG Cannons, Herreshoff modeled it from the 9 lb British Naval Deck Cannon.  They have been used to start numerous America’s Cup races, and are proudly used by the U.S. Navy for saluting and ceremonial purposes.

The Herreshoff cannon has the advantage of being a breech loader that utilizes 10 guage black powder shells, making them much easier and safer than the muzzle loading alternatives.  These cannons are cherished by collectors for their superb quality and craftsmanship.  So give the inner 10 year old in yourself or someone you know the thrill of a lifetime and buy a ticket or three!

$1,800 value. Need not be present to win.

Proceeds benefit the children and adults served by the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.
