Boat Donation Program

An internationally recognized maritime museum, CBMM is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization  established in 1965. CBMM’s Boat Donation Program is one of the most reputable, highly experienced operations in the region, which means you can have the utmost confidence in knowing the generous donation of your vessel is being handled by seasoned professionals who take care of all the necessary details.

The process of donating your boat, yacht or small craft is very straightforward thanks to our staff, yet each individual situation is different. Due to the longevity and breadth of expertise of our Boat Donation Program professionals tied in with the CBMM mission, the Museum is capable of providing you with the right donation scenario for your individual circumstances. Simply put, CBMM is positioned to relieve you of ongoing ownership expenses and provide you with a donation opportunity that will allow the maximum tax deduction for your charitable donation*.

The CBMM Boat Donation Program takes in all manner of craft year round, and unlike other non-profits, has long standing boat sales and lease/charter operations in place, including our much anticipated and very popular Boat Auction held annually each Labor Day weekend. We have the experience and business components in place to conduct transactions quickly and fairly, without the outside assistance or expense of a third-party organization. This means your charitable contribution will have greater benefit to you and CBMM.

Whether you donate a boat or yacht to CBMM, or buy a boat, you can be confident that 100% of the proceeds generated go towards supporting the many wonderful programs of CBMM Through your involvement and generosity, you are helping to assure the sustainability of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum for future generations.
*Each individual’s situation is different. We encourage you to consult with your tax advisor to learn how the donation of your vessel to CBMM can benefit you.
