St Michaels Community Flag Day Celebration Sunday June 14

St. Michaels Flag Day Celebration

Sunday, June 14 | 10am-5pm

CBMM is thrilled to host the St. Michaels Flag Day Celebration on Sunday, June 14, offering our community free campus admission and festive fun for the whole family in partnership with the St. Michaels Parks & Recreation Advisory Board.

We’re honoring America’s 250th anniversary with a red, white, and blue celebration highlighted by a boat parade through St. Michaels harbor, beginning at 1pm.

Free tickets for this Your Museum, Your Community celebration can be reserved now by clicking here. They will also be available at the door during the event.

The boat parade will feature more than 40 vessels of all sizes decked out in festive red, white, and blue. Guests are invited to watch the patriotic procession from our waterfront free of charge or purchase the opportunity to be a part of the fun aboard cruise boat PATRIOT.

Running from 12:30-2:30pm, our Flag Day Boat Parade Cruise offers a front-row seat to the on-the-water festivities. For online sales, the cost is $45 for adults, $43 for seniors, $20 for children 6-17, and $5 for children 5-and-under. CBMM members save $6 per ticket. Enjoy the playlist, sip on cold drinks, and celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with Patriot Cruises!

Please note that our ticketed sail aboard 1955 skipjack Rosie Parks and six-passenger historic vessel charters are now sold out.

CBMM invites both familiar faces and first-time visitors to spend the day on its waterfront campus. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy live music and family activities before and after the boat parade.

The fun includes field day activities on Navy Point with the Perkins Family YMCA (10am-1pm & 2-4pm) and a War of 1812 living history demonstration from the Chesapeake Independent Blues as well as displays from the Classic Motor Museum, St. Michaels Art League, St. Michaels Fire Department, and St. Michaels Museum. Don’t miss a special performance from the 9×9 Ensemble of the U.S. Army Reserve 78th Army Band (Fort Dix, N.J.) at the historic Tolchester Beach Bandstand, beginning at noon.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase from Eastern Shore Brewing‘s Grateful Glizzys hot dog stand, along with charcuterie from The Lifestyle Section. Windon Distilling will be on hand to offer free LYON rum tastings and to-go bottle sales.

This is a great opportunity to discover all that we have to offer on our 18 acres. Experience our interactive exhibitions, soak in the Miles River views, and connect with the Bay stories shared across campus. However you choose to spend your time, we invite you to relax, explore, and celebrate this special day in historic St. Michaels.

One timely highlight is the Emblems of America special exhibition, which is slated to open in the Van Lennep Auditorium in June and spotlights the use of patriotic imagery on trailboards, figureheads, and other marine carvings in CBMM’s collection.

At 11am, we will offer our Seeking Freedom Guided Tour. This free, one-hour tour begins at the Welcome Center and explores the stories of freedom seekers in the Chesapeake told across campus, including Frederick Douglass through our Bear Me Into Freedom special exhibition.

The St. Michaels Flag Day Celebration is hosted by CBMM in partnership with the St. Michaels Parks & Recreation Advisory Board with support from partner organizations across our community.

This is part of a series of community celebrations in St. Michaels from May-July in honor of America 250, including a Clean Up & Dress Up the Town event on Saturday, June 6, a concert in Muskrat Park with the Naval Academy Band Electric Brigade on Thursday, June 11, presented by the St. Michaels Community Center, and a Parks & Poles Historical Walking Tour on Saturday, June 13.
