In celebration of Independence Day, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum opens its doors for a night of live music each year. The St. Michaels fireworks will launch after dusk that evening, with CBMM’s waterfront campus a great venue from which guests can enjoy them.
Watermen’s Appreciation Day celebrates Chesapeake watermen and their heritage. The event includes a “watermen’s rodeo” boat docking contest, and live music. Steamed crabs, beer, and other foods and beverages will be available for purchase.
The live auction begins at 11am along CBMM’s waterfront campus, where boats—ranging in size and performance from sailing dinghies to cabin cruisers, and everything in between—will be auctioned off to the highest bidders.
Hundreds of amateur and professional boat builders, model boat builders and enthusiasts come from all over the region to display their skiffs, kayaks and canoes. Watch many of these one-of-a-kind vessels race along the Miles River along CBMM’s 18-acre waterfront campus.
Get ready to sip, slurp, and savor at the Chesapeake Bay’s favorite fall festival! The event features live music on two stages, boat rides, retriever demonstrations, oysters, and more.
