The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum explores and preserves the history, environment, and culture of the entire Chesapeake Bay region, and makes this resource accessible to all. Our members and guests enjoy transformative experiences as they encounter Chesapeake Bay history firsthand through real people, real work, original artifacts and exhibitions, visual arts, and Chesapeake artifacts.
CBMM’s park-like waterfront setting includes numerous indoor and outdoor exhibitions, a working Shipyard, Museum Store, a floating fleet of historic vessels, member’s marina, and is easily reached by car or boat. Each time you experience the Bay with us, you’ll take away something new!

Located in the heart of historic St. Michaels, CBMM offers two-day general admission. We encourage you to take a harborside stroll into town to enjoy unique shopping, delectable dining, and local history. The Town of St. Michaels and Talbot County offer wonderful lodging, opportunities to explore by bike or water, engaging museums, art galleries, and other attractions.

Located along St. Michaels Harbor and the Miles River in the heart of St. Michaels’ historic district, CBMM’s Member-Only Marina is a short walk from the area’s best restaurants, specialty shops, and other attractions.
CBMM offers regular tours of our can’t-be-missed exhibitions and objects. These hour-long tours are free to the public and explore Waterman’s Wharf, Oystering on the Chesapeake, 1879 Hooper Strait Lighthouse, and the working Shipyard.
Highlights Tours are available at a suggested ticket price of $10 per person and are scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays at 11am from Memorial Day through October. Tours are also offered on Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day.
Reserve your ticket when you purchase admission. Drop-in spaces may be available on the day of your visit depending on availability. All Highlights Tours will depart from CBMM’s Welcome Center.
Visit CBMM’s Museum Store to find unique items showcasing coastal, nautical, and regional merchandise to include home decor, souvenirs, toys, and apparel. Much of CBMM’s 18-acre waterfront campus is accessible, with the exception of the 1879 Hooper Strait Lighthouse, upper decks of the Boatshop, Mitchell House, the lower level of Oystering on the Chesapeake, and the Mill Street walk-through gate. CBMM’s walkways are unpaved and consist of gravel and stone pathways and boardwalks. Please note that CBMM does not offer wheelchair rentals. Our new Welcome Center, slated to open in fall 2023, will be fully ADA accessible.
