Now showing: Chesapeake Rhythms

Oct. 1, 2026 | #MyChesapeakeStory
With fall bringing crisp air, changing leaves, and shorter days to our region, “Chesapeake Rhythms” is now showing in CBMM’s Craig Fuller & Diane Terpeluk Theater. This 29-minute documentary from the library of celebrated Bay filmmakers Dave Harp, Tom Horton and Sandy Cannon-Brown will be shown at 11am and 2pm daily through Nov. 15.
“Chesapeake Rhythms” chronicles the essential rhythms of Chesapeake Bay: wind, tides, and migrations of tundra swans, monarch butterflies, shorebirds, and eels. These ancient migrations, annual rituals repeated for millennia, weave a tapestry that enriches our lives and oblige Chesapeake dwellers to maintain our hugely important way station in this vaster scheme of comings and goings. Visually stunning and enlightening, this film conveys the beauties and mysteries of the fundamental, elemental Chesapeake.
The 2025 film, produced by the Bay Journal, has been featured Maryland Public Television’s Chesapeake Bay Week. Stills and B-roll footage are part of CBMM’s Harp Collection, acquired in 2025.
It was last screened at CBMM in April 2025 when Horton, Harp, and Cannon-Brown were honored with the prestigious Bay Heritage Award.
Located on Navy Point, the Craig Fuller & Diane Terpeluk Theater celebrates the power of storytelling by sharing selections from our library of historic and documentary films throughout the year. We are proud to highlight on-demand short films and longer features that share mission-related stories, including a variety of films featured through the years during MPT’s Chesapeake Bay Week, many of which spotlight CBMM’s campus, collections, and staff expertise.
Viewing these films is included with general admission, which is always free for CBMM members. Plan your visit today!
