Winnie Estelle Refit Update #30: Constructing the Rub Rail

Featured.
Winnie Estelle

Right now in our working Shipyard, Winnie Estelle’s rub rail is getting its final fairing and painting.

In our latest update on the refit of the 1920 Chesapeake Bay buyboat, Shipwright Chip Gutsch shares the process of fabricating the rub rail out of oak and Osage orange and installing it on the historic vessel. This is one of the final steps before Winnie Estelle is ready for its return to the water.

CBMM members are invited to learn more at Member Night in the Shipyard this Thursday, Oct. 1, from 5-7pm. This is your chance to meet our team of talented shipwrights and get the latest updates on Winnie Estelle’s refit and more ongoing and upcoming projects while enjoying light refreshments. We hope that you can join us!
