Volunteer Interpreter Info Session

Are you passionate about sharing the Chesapeake story? Do you enjoy meeting new people? Do you consider yourself a life-long learner? If so, the Interpreter Program at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is right for you!
Interpreters facilitate engaging and accurate conversations and activities for museum guests to promote a deeper understanding of the Chesapeake Bay region and its cultural heritage. No experience is necessary, but an enthusiasm for the Chesapeake and sharing it is essential.
Interpreter Roles at CBMM
- Tour Guides – Provide a variety of guided tours and interactive experiences for students, adults, and families to inspire critical thinking and explore the cultural, historical, and ecological stories of the Chesapeake Bay.
- Exhibit Hosts – Enhance the guest experience at specific exhibitions around campus, facilitating discussion and providing educational content, as necessary.
- Shipyard Interpreters – Facilitate the guest experience in the Shipyard, providing context on current projects and floating fleet history to guests.
If you’d like to learn more, you’re invited to a Volunteer Interpreter Info Session on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 10am in the Van Lennep Auditorium. This is a chance to learn about CBMM’s various interpretive roles and upcoming training opportunities and meet current volunteer interpreters and interpretation staff. Light refreshments will be served. Afterward, there will be a brief, optional tour of CBMM’s campus offered.
