Guided Tour: Lighthouses of the Chesapeake

Public guided tours are offered most weekends and holiday Mondays. All tours require admission and begin at CBMM’s Welcome Center. Advance reservations are recommended. Public tours and general admission are free for CBMM members, who can use the member link below to make their reservations. Everyone else can use the non-member link below to purchase combo tickets for general admission and this tour.

In this Lighthouses of the Chesapeake Guided Tour, tour the historic 1879 Hooper Strait Lighthouse and explore the adventurous, exciting, and sometimes dangerous life of a lighthouse keeper. Up and down the Bay, these keepers had risky jobs with an important responsibility: to keep the Chesapeake’s shoals and channels safely marked for shipping and travel. This tour requires a moderate amount of walking (approximately ½ mile) across uneven surfaces including gravel and boardwalk, as well as several flights of stairs.
