These stunning, never-before-published photographs portray a bygone era: graceful skipjacks and their captains, the Bay’s unique lighthouses and marshes, Baltimore’s vibrant waterfront, and fishing ports of Tilghman Island, Deal Island, Crisfield, and Annapolis. In this Speaker Event, Harpe will reflect on the photographs and his adventures, which were recently published in "Pictured in Time: An Artist's Journey Around the Chesapeake."

Aquatic invasive species pose an existential threat to the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem and ways of life associated with it such as crabbing and fishing. Through his lab at Salisbury University, Assistant Professor of Physiology Noah Bressman studies Blue Catfish and the Northern Snakehead to learn the best ways to manage their populations, while also supporting initiatives to encourage people to catch, kill, and or eat these invasive fish to try to keep their populations down.
On Saturday, Jan. 25, in the Van Lennep Auditorium, David Gendell, author of “The Last Days of Schooner America,” will trace the history of the famous vessel, including the never-before-told story of its final days at the Annapolis Yacht Yard, combining archival sources and oral histories to shape the story.
