Rising Tide: After-School Boatbuilding Program (Grades 6–9)

2025–26 School Year

Come build a boat with us!

Rising Tide is a hands-on after-school program that invites 6th–9th grade students roll up their sleeves and dive into the art of boatbuilding. Working alongside experienced workshop educators, students will:

  • Learn woodworking skills and safety
  • Work as a team to build boats from the ground up
  • See their hard work pay off when the boat launches in the spring!

This unique program blends creativity, craftsmanship, and fun—perfect for students who love to build, explore, and take on new challenges. No experience is necessary to join!

Right now, students are working to build both a canoe and a skin-on-frame kayak in CBMM’s Education Workshop.

Appropriate clothing
Safety is our highest priority. Students are required to wear closed-toe shoes in the shop. We provide safety glasses, hearing protection, and dust protection in the shop. We also recommend wearing clothes that are okay to get messy. The shop is not climate controlled and students should bring an old jacket or sweater in the colder months. Space is provided to change clothes, and students can leave work clothes at the shop if they attend classes regularly.
