Quantcast

From detailed scale ship models of historic and traditional Chesapeake Bay to builders’ half-models used in lieu of plans for construction to folk art “sailor-made” models constructed from memory by crew members, CBMM’s extensive model collection numbers more than 300. Highlights include Captain Gus Rice’s model of pungy schooner Amanda F. Lewis, Pilot #1 made by one of the boat’s crew to represent the first steam pilot vessel in the United States, and a group of carefully documented and intricately crafted models representing a wide range of Chesapeake Bay craft made by CBMM volunteer Ed Thieler.
