CBMM officially opened its doors to the public on May 22, 1965. For the past six decades, we’ve been creating unforgettable memories on our waterfront campus while exploring and preserving the cultural heritage of the entire Chesapeake region, and making this valuable resource accessible to all.
As we reach the big 6-0, we’re asking our friends to help us celebrate 60 years on Thursday, May 22. Throughout the day, we’ll be sharing birthday wishes highlighting our mission and impact across our social media channels—Facebook, Instagram, X, Threads, and YouTube. And, you’re invited to join us inside CBMM’s Welcome Center at 11am that day to enjoy cake and sing “Happy Birthday” to CBMM.
You can join in the birthday fun now by telling us why you celebrate CBMM in a video and sharing your submission by email to havefun@cbmm.org or tagging us on social media along with #MyChesapeakeStory. We’ll compile all the birthday wishes into a special message on the big day.
It’s OK to show up empty-handed to this party! You can help us celebrate from the comfort of your couch today (or office, desk, wherever!) by making an online gift to CBMM.
