This is the Boats of the Bay: Working Boats Guided Tour. For generations, the waters of the Chesapeake have been a place for work. Boats large and small were a waterman’s tool for subsistence and success, each unique and tailored to its job on the Bay. From small skiffs to large skipjacks, this tour will explore working boats in CBMM’s collection to uncover the stories of the people who worked aboard. This tour requires a moderate amount of walking (approximately 1/4 mile) across uneven surfaces, including gravel and boardwalk.
CBMM members become a part of the Chesapeake story and join our mission to preserve and explore the history, environment, and culture of the entire Chesapeake Bay region. Not a member yet? Join today!
