Boater Safety Course
Saturday-Sunday, May 2-3 | 9am-1pm
CBMM’s Boater Safety Course teaches participants the basics needed to safely and confidently operate a vessel on Maryland waterways. Individuals and families with children 10-and-up are welcome to participate. Maryland boaters born after July 1, 1972, are required to have a Certificate of Boating Safety Education. Graduates of our Department of Natural Resources-approved course are awarded a certificate that is good for life.
Led by guest instructor Ed Burke, the eight-hour boating course we offer is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators. Upon completion of the course, each participant will receive their Maryland boater card and certificate. Click here to learn more about boating safety in Maryland.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Ed Burke is a member of Flotilla 21-03, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary unit based in Easton, Md. His mission is to advance recreational boating safety through hands-on education, including recreational boating safety courses, vessel safety checks, and a visible, supportive presence on local waterways. By working closely with boaters, marinas, and community partners, he helps ensure that members of the boating community are better prepared, better informed, and safer on the water.
