The Secret Life of Eels: Studying Maryland’s Eel Population
October 9, 2025 @ 5:30 pm - 6:45 pm

While eels are a historically significant fishery and species within the Chesapeake, much remains unknown about the elusive American eel. Join Natural Resource Biologist Alexis Park of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources on Thursday, Oct. 9, to explore ongoing research in the Maryland Eel Population Study which is investigating the American eel population and its commercial fishery in Maryland. Through a variety of surveys, the study gathers important data on eels at different life stages, helping manage their numbers along the Atlantic coast.
