Introduced to recreational crabbing as an adult, Rachel Fazenbaker quickly fell in love with working the water and hasn’t looked back. The Denton, Md., waterwoman has been crabbing commercially for a little over a decade and has more recently added in dredging for oysters through the winter.
Fazenbaker will share more from her life on the water at our rescheduled Watermen`s Story Swap next Wednesday, Feb. 18. We have sold out of in-person tickets, but you can still register to join us virtually for this sure-to-be entertaining panel moderated by local historian and author Brent Lewis.

We’re thrilled to introduce our two newest Shipwright Apprentices, Ben Heyer and Roland Payabyab.
As they begin the CBMM Shipyard`s state-certified apprentice program, Ben and Roland are building a Lighthouse Skiff under the guidance of Shipyard Educator Walter Atkins. This 14-foot vessel, a modified Todd Point Skiff, was designed at CBMM in the 1990s by Winslow Womack, Richard Scofield, and Tom Howell, and a series of models demonstrating the step-by-step build of one hangs on the wall in CBMM’s Boatshop.
Stop by the Shipyard soon to meet Ben and Roland and watch their introductory project take shape!
