Join Shipwright Educator Steve Garrand for a weekend working on taking the lines from an 18-foot Abaco sloop. The boat was built in the 1940s on Great Abaco for the sponge trade in Florida. It is believed to be the last of its type in existence, therefore a great candidate for the recording of its shape.
Over the weekend we will bring the boat into the shop, level it up and begin the process of “taking the lines”, eventually leading us to the creation of a table of offsets. From this table, a new boat could be built or a set of building plans could be created. Consider joining us for a weekend in the pursuit of preserving maritime history!
