Join CBMM’s Model Guild in this two-day Build Your Own Smith Island Skiff Model Workshop.
Students will start with the building molds before creating the backbone of the skiff. Once the stem, transom, and chines are installed, the side planks can be bent around the molds and attached to the stem and transom. After adjusting the bevel along the chine and chine plank, students will layout and install the cross planked bottom continuing the boat building process until the skiff can be taken off the mold, flipped, and fitted out.
Participants will come away with a fine-looking, custom-built model and an intimate knowledge of how a cross-planked, flat-bottom skiff is built start to finish. All materials and tools are included in the cost registration.
