This spring homeschool students will participate in CBMM’s Chesapeake’s Best Crab Cakes Immersive Program. Students learn about Chesapeake geography, biology, and economics by following the blue crab on its journey from the brackish Bay to our picnic tables.
The program focuses on the people who earn their livelihood from the crabbing industry. Students aged 5-11 will learn through role play and hands-on activities. New this year, students aged 12-18 will use primary sources, discussion, and hands-on activities to explore the various cultural, economic, and biological impacts of the crabbing industry.
Cost is $5 per person. Accompanying younger siblings 5 and under are free. All participants must register in advance.

Cost is $15 per program participant. Participants may be dropped off by a chaperoning adult and picked up at the end of the program. If accompanying adults and additional non-participant children would like to explore CBMM during the program, they may purchase a $5 ticket with children 5 years and younger free.

Students will also take an up-close look at an oyster nursery’s crabs, fish, and baby mollusks.

Create your own artistic version of the Chesapeake Bay while exploring CBMM’s Living Shoreline, gardens, and oyster reef critters. Observe the species in our waterfront habitats to learn about how different plants and animals have adapted to survive in specific habitats.
